Is canned cat food good to feed my cat?

Yes, canned food is great to feed.  It most closely resembles the diet of a carnivour with 70% moisture and low carbs.

My cat stays indoors, can it really have fleas?

Yes, they can hitchhike in on you or your dog or be in the environment.  Also, remember if your cat goes out on a leash or in your arms, they should still be on prevention.

Why does my indoor female cat need to be spayed?

It is best for her overall health to be spayed (less likely to develop certain types of reproductive cancers).  It will help to prevent inappropriate urinations and behavioral changes.

When do I change my kitten over to an adult diet?

It is best to transition them over immediately following their sterilization surgery.  We recommend a gradual diet change over a 1-2 week period.

Why should I get a 1 year Rabies vaccine instead of a 3 year Rabies vaccine?

The Merial PureVax 1 year Rabies vaccine is a much safer vaccine to administer to your cat.  The technology is different than that of the 3 year Rabies vaccines and is less likely to cause vaccine induced Fibrosarcomas (a cancerous tumor at the site of vaccine).

My cat's nose is dry and hot, is this an indication s/he is sick?

NO, their nose is not a thermometer!  A much better indicator is whether or not they are eating and their general attitude/appearance.

Why is it an emergency to have my male cat seen if he is squatting to urinate?

Your cat may be obstructed and if so this is a life threatening medical condition. The sooner it can be unobstructed the better the prognosis.
